Our performer line-up:
Team 20s: Angelica Ojinnaka-Psillakis is a passionate global youth leader, researcher and educator. A Former UN Youth Representative, she is an advocate for addressing social inequality, determinants of health, intersectionality and youth. Named by the UN as one of 23 Young People Leading Resilient Recovery, she also enjoys creative projects and uplifting the voices of communities worldwide.
Team 30s: Shirley Le is a Vietnamese-Australian writer from Western Sydney. Her debut novel, Funny Ethnics, was published by Affirm Press in 2023. She is also a member of the Sweatshop Writers Collective, a literacy movement based in Western Sydney.
Team 40s: Beck Feiner is an illustrator, designer and author. Her children's books include Aussie Legends Alphabet, If I Was Prime Minister and Big Love, which received a 2022 CBCA Notable Award. She recently published her first adult book, Look At Moi Ploise: Celebrating Aussie life through the decades.
Team 50s: Kyra Geddes gave up a successful marketing career to pursue her lifelong dream of writing, combining motherhood with a return to study and years of research. The result is her recently released historical novel, The Story Thief. Of mixed German-Italian heritage, Kyra does her best to live la dolce vita!
Team 60s: Dr Fiona Ninnes has had more than 45 years’ experience working in informal and formal education settings (particularly in cross-cultural situations) with students ranging in age from 3 to 80. At 59, she was age-managed out of her job. She is now an active member of the Older Women’s Network Theatre group.
Team 70s: Shauna Jensen is an accomplished vocalist with a diverse career spanning Australia’s live music and recording scenes. She’s performed internationally and toured with icons like Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel. Known for her soulful, versatile voice, Shauna has sold out shows, including her celebrated Aretha Franklin Songbook at the Sydney Opera House.
Generation Women is an award-winning cross-generational storytelling night founded in New York in 2017, Sydney in 2018, and Melbourne in 2020. Each month, six women of note read an original piece on a theme. Of those women, one is in her 20s, her 30s, her 40s, her 50s, her 60s, and her 70s+.
This event is proudly presented by Generation Women Australia, founded by Donna Logue. The event will be hosted by Jen Ward. Generation Women was created by Georgia Clark.
